In the past the Lambertville Historical Society has awarded scholarships to students at South who researched longtime residents’ first jobs. This year we’re trying something different.
We have created a fund of $1,000 to be divided evenly into gift cards for all students who participate in a brief historical activity. If two students participate, each will get $500; if 25 participate, each will get $40, and so on…
We invite high school and middle school students to choose just one of these activities:
• Take a selfie at one of the two new interpretive historical signs in Lambertville—one is
about Holcombe House, on the NE corner of Phillips Barber Road and N. Main Street;
one is about Coryell’s Ferry, on the south side of Bridge Street between the bridge and
Lambertville Station. Email us the photo with your name(s)—we intend to share it on
social media or on our website—and include comments about what you found
interesting, or what you learned.
• Access the Lambertville Free Public Library’s online archive of The Beacon and The
Record: https://lambertvillelibrary.org/localhistory. Read any article or advertisement
from the 1800’s, email us the link and tell us in a sentence or two (or more) why it’s
interesting to you.
• Visit the Links page of our website, https://lambertvillehistoricalsociety.org/links, choose
any item in the Media, Photos, or Maps sections, email us the link and tell us in a
sentence or two (or more) why it’s interesting to you.
• If your family has an old photo of an ancestor who lived in Lambertville, or an old photo
of a Lambertville location, email it to us and tell us about it.
Our email address is info@lambertvillehistoricalsociety.org
* Submissions deadline is May 1 *
We look forward to hearing from you!
