General Volunteering
Docents Welcomed
- Marshall House Introduction
- Guided Walking Tours
- Canal Path History
- Special Interests
Docents are trained guides. LHS provides training, support and materials; volunteers learn by researching information, developing a script and verifying facts in small, relaxed groups led by knowledgeable LHS members.
When you say hello to a family who walks into Marshall House, you will be ready to tell them about the Marshall’s, gather them for a walking tour, or describe the canal path trip.
We need two to four volunteers every weekend, April through October from 1-4 p.m. at the Marshall House—Guides once a month for walking tours and canal walk guides for special events.
Armed with information, it’s easy and it’s fun to talk about things we love: Marshall House and Lambertville.
Research Projects
- Industrial, commercial development of city
- Developing an historic timeline
- James Marshall’s claim to fame: starting the gold rush
